\nHailed by The New Yorker as “destined for great things\,” when the m
embers of the Horszowski Trio (HorSHOV-ski) played together for the first
time they immediately felt the spark of a unique connection. Two-time Gram
my-nominated violinist Jesse Mills first performed with Raman Ramakrishnan
\, founding cellist of the prize-winning Daedalus Quartet\, at the Kinhave
n Music School when they were children. In New York City\, they met pianis
t Rieko Aizawa\, who\, upon being discovered by the late violinist and con
ductor Alexander Schneider\, had made her U.S. debuts at the Kennedy Cente
r and Carnegie Hall. Their musical bonds were strengthened at various scho
ols and festivals around the world\, including the Juilliard School and th
e Marlboro Festival. Ms. Aizawa was the last pupil of the legendary pianis
t\, Mieczysław Horszowski (1892–1993)\, at the Curtis Institute.\n\nThe
Trio takes inspiration from Horszowski’s musicianship\, integrity\, and
humanity. Like Horszowski\, the Trio presents repertoire spanning the tra
ditional and the contemporary. In addition\, they seek to perform works fr
om the trove of composers with whom Horszowski had personal contact\, such
  as Ravel\, SaintSaëns\, Fauré\, Martinu\, Villa-Lobos\, and Granados.\n
\nThe Horszowski Trio’s busy concert schedule has included performances
across the United States\, including Chamber Music Societies in Philadelph
ia\, Buffalo\, and Williamsburg\, the Boise Chamber Music Series\, Souther
n Oregon University Chamber Music Concerts\, the New School Concerts and P
eoples’ Symphony series in New York\, the Phillips Collection and Dumbar
ton Oaks in Washington\, the Athenaeum in La Jolla\, and the Da Camera Soc
iety in Los Angeles amongst many others. Internationally\, the Horszowski
Trio has performed throughout Japan\, at the Hong Kong University of Scien
ce and Technology\, and they recently made their Mexican debut at the Fest
ival Internacional de Música de Cámara de San Miguel de Allende\, and wi
ll mark their Wigmore Hall debut in 2019.\n\nTheir debut recording\, an al
bum of works by Fauré\, Saint-Saëns\, and D’Indy—all composers Miecz
ysław Horszowski knew—was released by Bridge Records in the fall of 201
 4. The album was featured as a Recording of the Month by MusicWeb Internat
ional. Forthcoming recordings will include the three piano quartets of Joh
annes Brahms in collaboration with Masumi Per Rostad\, and the complete Sc
humann trios.\n\nThe Horszowski Trio has particularly championed the music
of Joan Tower\, whose work\, “For Daniel\,” they have performed on st
ages across the world. These performances were recorded as part of a serie
s of chamber music to be released to celebrate the 75th birthday of Ms. To
wer. Electric Earth Concerts\, a festival in New Hampshire\, commissioned
a new work for the Trio\, from Eric Moe\, “Welcome To Phase Space.” Th
e work was premiered in June 2014. Chamber Music America commissioned a wo
rk for the Trio from Andreia Pinto-Correia\, premiered in November 2017 fo
r the San Jose Chamber Music Society.\n\nBased in New York City\, the memb
ers of the Horszowski Trio teach at Columbia University and the Longy Scho
ol of Music of Bard College.\n\nwww.horszowskitrio.com\n\nThe Horszowski T
