SUMMARY:A Wilde Picnic: A Reading of The Importance of Being Earnest
DESCRIPTION:An Arts on the Grounds presentation at the Clark Library \n\n
Chalk Repertory Theatre presents\nA Wilde Picnic: A Reading of "The Import
ance of Being Earnest"\n\nwith actors from Chalk Rep's company\n\nThe Clar
k Library welcomes back Chalk Repertory Theatre\, which brought us last su
mmer’s Misalliance event “Tea with Shaw\,” and whose production of L
ady Windermere’s Fan was presented in 2013–14\, for another exciting o
utdoor reading. This year\, Chalk Rep is returning to Oscar Wilde with a p
resentation of his classic\, The Importance of Being Earnest\, on the beau
tiful grounds of the Clark Library.\nWhat is the value of a sincere and pu
rposeful life? In 1895 that question may have had a considerably different
set of answers\, but for everyone involved in Wilde’s “Trivial Comedy
for Serious People\,” the stakes are high and hearts are on the line. M
istaken identities and societal hijinks abound in this farcical romp.\nTIC
KETS SOLD OUT\nThis event is outdoors and seating will be provided\, but p
lease feel free to bring picnic blankets for lawn seating.\n\nTickets are
$20 and include the reading and refreshments! \n\nBuy now:  www.chalkrep.
 com/awildepicnic\n\nTickets are sold on a first-come\, first-served basis
and are non-refundable.\n\nArts on the Grounds creates intersections of li
terature and the performing arts. The Oscar Wilde collection at the Clark
Library is the largest and most significant in the world and includes near
ly every edition of every printed book by and about Wilde\, as well as a w
ealth of related material by his contemporaries. For more information abou
 t the Clark Library’s holdings\, please visit http://clarklibrary.ucla.e
