All Day

Location

—a conference organized by Kathryn Norberg, University of California, Los Angeles, and Dena Goodman, University of Michigan

co-sponsored by the J. Paul Getty Museum

Historians, literary scholars, art historians and curators interested in furniture and furnishings of France, England and their colonies during the long eighteenth century gather at this two-and-a-half-day conference to critique old approaches and develop new interpretations while exploring how material culture-in this case furnishing-shaped cultural production and mirrored social patterns. A special session of the conference is hosted by Gillian Wilson, curator of the Department of Decorative Arts at the Getty Museum, and is at the Getty.
