He gradu ated with honors from the Montreal Conservatory at the age of 18 and then moved to the United States to continue studies at the famed Curtis Institu te of Music.\n\nChalifour received a Certificate of Honor at the Tchaikovs ky Competition in Moscow and is also a laureate of the prestigious Montrea l International Competition. Apart from his LA Phil duties\, he has mainta ined an active solo career\, playing a diverse repertoire of more than 60 concertos. Chalifour has appeared as soloist with conductors Pierre Boulez \, Gustavo Dudamel\, Charles Dutoit\, Christoph Eschenbach\, Neville Marri ner\, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Outside the U.S.\, he has played solos with t he Auckland Philharmonia\, the Montreal Symphony\, the Hong Kong Philharmo nic\, the National Orchestra of Taiwan\, and the Malaysian Philharmonic\, among others.\n\nChalifour began his orchestral career with the late Rober t Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony\, playing as Associate Concertmaster for s ix years. Subsequently\, for five years he occupied the same position in t he Cleveland Orchestra\, where he also served as Acting Concertmaster unde r Christoph von Dohnányi. While in Cleveland\, Chalifour taught at the Cl eveland Institute of Music and was a founding member of the Cleveland Orch estra Piano Trio.\n\nChalifour is a frequent guest at summer music festiva ls\, including the Mainly Mozart Festival and the Ottawa Chamber Music Fes tival.\n\nMaintaining close ties with his native country\, he has returned there often to teach and perform as soloist with various Canadian orchest ras\, most recently in Vancouver and in Hamilton.\n\nMartin Chalifour has recorded solo and chamber music for the Telarc\, Northstar\, and Yarlung l abels. He teaches at Caltech and at the University of Southern California ’s Thornton School of Music.\n\nAmbroise Aubrun\nHailed as a “marvelou s violinist” (France Musique) with “sensitive tone” (Pizzicato Magaz ine) and “tremendous ease\, suppleness and beauty of sound” (Nice-Mati n)\, violinist Ambroise Aubrun has performed extensively in Europe and Nor th America. His albums for the Editions Hortus and Navona Records have emb raced a wide range of repertoire from Bach to Tanguy (b. 1968) and receive d praise of the highest caliber (5 stars Pizzicato Journal\, “coup de co eur” France Musique\, and a nomination for the 2021 International Classi cal Music Awards).\n\nAubrun’s performances and albums have been broadca st on CBS\, WFMT\, France Musique\, Klara Radio (Belgium)\, KPFK\, WTUL Ne w-Orleans and K-USC Los Angeles.\n\nHe has served as guest concertmaster o f the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra\, the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico\, and is a regular guest of the Los Angeles Philharmonic violin sections.\n\nAubrun studied at the Pa ris National Superior Conservatory\, UCLA and the Colburn Conservatory of Music. He is the winner of the Charles Oulmont Prize of the Fondation de F rance and laureate of the Langart Foundation in Switzerland.\n\nCurrently Associate Professor of Violin at the University of Nevada\, Las Vegas\, Au brun has served on the faculty of UCLA and UC Santa Barbara as well as sev eral academies\, and is regularly invited to give masterclasses around the world. He is the artistic director of the Henry J. Bruman Summer Chamber Music Festival at UCLA.\n\nAubrun plays a Matteo Goffriller violin\, on lo an from the Langart Foundation.\n\nKate Hamilton\nKate Hamilton\, violist\ , enjoys an international career as Associate Professor of Viola at the Un iversity of Nevada\, Las Vegas and as the Co-Director of the International Chamber Music Festival in Joao Pessoa\, Brazil. Recent engagements includ e guest artist on the Unbound Chamber Music Series (Mammoth\, CA)\, chambe r music performances with Frank Huang (New York Philharmonic concertmaster )\, and guest artist on the Music Maestri Series\, Milano Conservatorio (I taly). A special honor in June 2022 was to perform viola quintets in Leipz ig with members of the Berlin Philharmonic on the Kunitz &\; Justiz Cou rthouse Chamber Series. Since 2019\, Kate has received repeated invitation s to substitute in the viola section of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (Germany) under Sir Simon Rattle\, amongst others. As a viola soloist\, sh e has appeared at the Qintai Concert Hall with the Wuhan Philharmonic Orch estra (China)\, the Kansas City Civic Orchestra\, Central Oregon Symphony\ , and the Chamber Orchestra of San Jose (Costa Rica). Her playing has been described by Minnesota Public Radio as “a sound like liquid gold.”\n\ nA sought-after educator\, she teaches a large class of violists at the Un iversity of Nevada and has given masterclasses at numerous music schools w orldwide\, including the Sydney Conservatory\, Wuhan Conservatory\, Milan Conservatory\, New Zealand School of Music\, University of Georgia\, and t he Steinhardt School of Music at New York University. Her students have co ntinued studies at the Curtis Institute and Juilliard School of Music\, an d hold symphony\, chamber\, and academic positions around the world.\n\nKa te has won positions in the San Diego (CA) and Guiyang Symphony Orchestra (China) as well as invited guest principal of the Bodø Chamber Orchestra in Norway.\n\nPrevious faculty positions include Artist-in-Residence at th e University of Missouri-Columbia and violist of the Esterhazy String Quar tet\, Associate Professor of Viola at Illinois State. and visiting viola f aculty at Otago University in Dunedin\, New Zealand.\n\nWith her violin du o partner\, Ambroise Aubrun\, they are known as “Duo Novae” and they h ave enjoyed performances at the Sibelius Festival (Italy)\, the Nice Conse rvatoire (France) \, and throughout the USA. A Philosophy and Chinese major\, she also graduated from the C onservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris under André Navarra. She is a prizewinner at the Barcelona\, Florence and Paris International competitions. She toured throughout the world as a soloist and as a chambe r musician with Rudolf Firkusny\, Jean-Yves Thibaudet\, Michel Dalberto\, Pascal Rogé\, Simone Pedroni\, Pierre Amoyal\, Augustin Dumay\, and Marti n Chalifour.\n\nShe is the Principal Cellist for the Long Beach Symphony a nd the L.A. Master Chorale. She also recorded hundreds of movie soundtrack s with John Williams\, James Newton-Howard\, James Horner\, Randy Newman\, Danny Elfman\, and Alexandre Desplat\, among others.\n\nSince 2017\, Céc ilia is the co-founder and Artistic Director of the Mount Wilson Observato ry music series: “Sunday Afternoon Concerts in the Dome.”\n\nIn April 2019\, she was the French narrator in Stravinsky’s “Perséphone” wit h the Los Angeles Philharmonic\, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Peter Sellars at Di sney Hall.\n\nCécilia has also served as Principal Cello for the Pasadena Symphony\, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra\, the New West Symphony\, th e Santa Barbara Symphony\, the Academy Awards\, the Emmys\, American Idol\ , Dancing with the Stars and America’s Got Talent.\n\nAbout The Henry J . Bru man (1913–2005)\, who sought to introduce new audiences to chamber music at informal concerts on the UCLA campus. The festival is made possible by the Henry J.
