On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, members of the Book Club of California visited the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library for a private tour and luncheon.
Nina Schneider, Rare Books Librarian and member of the book club, welcomed our guests at the entrance of the Library and provided historical background on William Andrews Clark Jr. and the Library. Rebecca Fenning Marschall, Manuscripts and Archives Librarian, then guided the group through the Library, concluding in the basement reading room, where the librarians had prepared a special display of treasures from the Clark’s collections. The display featured a copy of William Shakespeare’s First Folio, selections related to Oscar Wilde, map of California, letterpress art, and William Andrews Clark Jr.’s lifetime membership to the Book Club of California.
Following the tour, members explored the library grounds and concluded their visit with lunch on the lawn. The event was organized and hosted by Kevin Kosik, executive director of the Book Club of California.
